Sweet coconuts!

Although there is no place like home, I love experiencing new cultures and learning new languages.   On Tuesday, I leave for  Haiti where I will live and work alongside the good people of Hope House, and while I am there, I’m looking forward to picking up some Haitian Creole.  It’s already provided me with the inspiration for a title for this blog, Ann ale lekol, and no doubt I’ll pick up many more useful phrases like this one:

Mezanmi oh! Ala yon ti moun frekan! M ta ka manman ou, epi w’ap gade

gwosè m.Oh my! What an impertinent child! I could be your mother and you’re looking at my curves.
